Can't write to cd

C

Cranky

I own a Sony Vaio WinXP Home version 2002. I have used the
help guide to try and figure out why I suddenly cannot
back up files on cd's. I can copy the files to drive F..
the wizard starts.. then keeps telling me to insert a
writeable cd. (the dern thing is in there!) It's a new
stack of Maxell CD-R Pro 700 MB. I've been using them up
until the "problem" started.

I have just recently reformatted my computer (the problem
started before reformatting) and installed a new modem...
the old one died. ( I think I killed it.) Modem Blaster V92

I have service pack 2 (it's NOT the problem.. in fact it
improved my computers performance since I installed it
yesterday)

Pentium 4 1500 MHz
1.49GHz
256MB of RAM

DVD/CD Rom drives
HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE 8160B
Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-117R

MAXTOR 4D060H3

Did I give you too much or too little info?

If indeed you do not have the CD rom driver disk then I
suggest getting the model and the drivers from the
manufacturer, also you may want to reinstall the software
you use for burning Nero Ahead for example has a patch
because there were compatbility issues with SP2.
