compac lapto

today my laptop could not start up for some reason. it would go to the error starting screen where it saids safe mode, safe mode with network, safe mode with dos, and start computer with last good configuration, and start windows normally. i tried each one but everytime i start windows, theres a small blue screen for about .5 of a sec. then computer restarts. after it restarts i get the same problem again saying computer could not start correctly. its like a cycle. i cant say what the blue error screen saids because its only there for a split of a sec before it restart. i would like to know how to fix this error without having to reformat my computer
thank

ps i have to use a different computer in order to send this thread, just so u know

hit the pause key right when the blue screen pops up so you can read it (then again an error this bad might mean the pause key isn't going to work)

Hi,

Load the Recovery Console, run "chkdsk C: /r" from the command prompt.

Okay, I am having the same problem as this person and I
have had no luck fixing this. I have used the recovery
disk and that pulled up the blue screen with the error on
it. It is a registry error. I can't get past this screen
at all then, I have to reboot and it is just the same
loop. I am not able to do recovery or even reinstall
Windows XP, or even go into safe mode at all. Does anyone
have any ideas on this? It is very frustrating. Thanks
in advance!!
