I go to start regedit and I get an error that it isn't a valid Win32
application.
Any advice to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Your machine has a virus which created a "dummy" file named regedit.com
and has probably placed it in your windows or winnt system 32 folder
it may be hidden...so search for it and delete it...
if it's not in your system32 folder...look in your windows or winnt folder
also run a *good* and recently updated virus checker and run it 'till
you've deleted all the viruses!
in the mean time you can get regedit to run by running regedit.exe The
*real* regedit is regedit.exe
and NOT regedit.com
try running the full name regedit.exe
or enter the full path C:\winnt\regedit.exe or C:\windows\regedit.exe
BTW: If you are using McAffee anti virus...you may as well uninstall it and
use AVG..
I've repaired quite a few machines by using AVG ...
most of which had either McAffee or Norton anti-virus !!!!
