can't send messages after updated expired ESET NOD32 antivirus

Never been on this email before -
my email Worked on first NOD32 antivirus loaded up last year
even worked after that one expired a few months ago
but now can only (sometimes) send something to myself
(that's like me talking to myself)
have Cox cable and they instructed to uninstall...
yep it worked but left me with no protection
put protection back on and same problem
please help
