Laura

can't send mail. it goes straight to my outbox. I do not receive an error
message but when I close email I receive a pop up asking to send messages
from my outbox.

Speculation only :
You were sending an e-mail with attachment. Depending on the size of the
attachment, it might take some time to send.
You, being impatient or a little lack of understanding, closed the program
before e-mail got sent.
Ring a bell ?

So what happens after clicking on Yes to that popup?

Go to Tools, Options, Send, make sure the second box is checked
("Send messages immediately").

I have come across that in the past but not this time. I haven't attached
anything & it continues with all emails.

Besides the one you said is in the outbox, is it possible that there is
another in the out-box ?
What I am getting at is that you might already have one stuck in the
out-box, therefore this one don't get sent.

thank you for help

Laura, delete all messages in the Outbox, then try sending again.
If no improvement, delete that account, close and reopen Windows
Mail, then recreate the account.
