Can't Send Email, Is It Related to Not Being Able to Delete Outbox

I have a new Dell desktop and a new HP notebook, both have Vista and both
have recently fallen to this failure. I can receive email but can not send
email. I have an email in my outbox that just sits there and I can not delete
it. I have tried everything I have read (so far) and am unable to get it
resolved. I am puzzeled. I do not have either of the two the paths you
descibe: user profile\AppData\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Backup and the other
similar.

can you help me?

I must say if the avionics that I support through IR&D functioned as poor as
these items coming out of MicroSoft, not only would we be out of business,
planes would be falling out of the sky from mandated Service Paks and
upgrades....yeeoow!

%USERPROFILE% = C:\Users\<UserName>

Since they are in the Outbox, see

Since you "have tried everything" I assume you have seen
and applied the much recommended free WMUtil program:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil
Try it before trying any of the older fixes.

The reason you cannot see the directory paths is because
you haven't changed your Folder Options to show "hidden"
files and folders.

Vfrguitarman,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility to the desktop per his instructions. Then use
the utility (after unzipping) and compact your e-mail. It worked for me and
hopefully will work for you. Also compact your e-mail every time the dialog
box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail.

Good luck.
