can't send email

In windows mail yesterday I sent an email and then later when I came back to
the computer I see that there is something in my outbox. I look to see what
it is and it has the address of the email that I had sent, but in the body of
the email it says:
Message could not be displayed
Windows mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message, check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

I then checked my sent messages file and the email was there and then i
received a response to the email from the person that I sent it to, so I know
they got it. I went back to my outbox and tried to delete it and it won't
let me. A box comes up that says "an unknown error has occured". I was able
to send emails this morning although I had to go into my outbox and hit
send/receive. But I am receiving emails with no problems. Now I can't send
anything. I have 3 emails in my outbox that will not send.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve this problem?

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 64-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although
seldom immediately, so if you have such a program, remember
where to find the fix - you are likely to need it again.

I have the same problem......and I know that its solveable since a gateway
tech told me how to do it and sent me a proceedure (which I left in CT) now I
am on vacation for 3 mo's and have to resort to reading my mail on "Windows
Mail" and writing replys on "yahoo" ..........I know that the solution lies
in the >Tool>account>>>......?.........and then do something else that I dont
remember.
If you get the answer please let me know....

The solution to undeletable messages is usually this fix, downloaded and
installed with Windows Mail not running:

If you want to connect to Yahoo under Windows Mail, you will
have to either pay extra or install YPOPs:

well i have tried the fix that robertmiles has sent and it hasn't worked. i
also contacted everyone that i could (for free) to try to fix it myself with
their guidance. i even contacted gateway because my isp told me it was
something to do with the computer itself. so the gateway person walked me
thru everystep and it did allow me to send emails, but the thing is still
there in my outbox and everytime i open or close my mail a message pops up
and i have to answer no to it and it also comes up when i send an email. but
for now that works for me because i don't have $60 to pay microsoft right now
for a consult or whatever.
sorry dic m that i don't remember what they told me to do, but you are right
it is tools and account and something else. i am not a computer literate
person at all, so i don't remember whatever it is that i did.
thanks robertmiles for your help. too bad that fix didn't fix mine.
