Can't save jpeg/jpg format image from my browser!

After I updated my WinXP and IE6 to the lastest patches
and updates available on the windows update website form
mircrosoft, I can no longer save a jpeg images on any
websites from my browser. Whenever I try to save a
picture which is in jpeg/jpg, it will auto convert to bmp
and prompt me for a filename, there is no option for me
to choose jpeg as the format neither do it catch the
original filename from the site. I used to be able to
save any jpeg image in jpeg format by using the 'save
picture as' function, the brower would also automatic
catch the orginal filename for the jpeg file before
prompt you for the path. So my question is how do i re-
enable saving of jpeg file from my browser when surfing
the internet. Or should i got no choice to reformat my
system and give up updating my windows which only posed
more problem to me.
Somebody please enlighten me, thank you !!!

Load up Internet Explorer and click on TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/DELETE FILES then on CLEAR HISTORY then close IE and open it again and see if that helps.
