Saving a photo as a JPG

I am setting up a new hard drive and did a clean install of windows
98SE and IE 6.0.2600. Now when I save a JPG from the web it comes in
the save box as a JPEG. And my PhotoShop 3 does not open it till I get
ride of the E in JPEG. Can I switch it to save with the JPG only?
? I have show hidden files and show full names in folder options turned
on.

DJW,

You may have already tried this but if not, go to the Folder Options in
Control Panel. Select the File Types tab and go down to JPEG. Select JPEG
and click the Change button. Select your Photoshop 3 application and make
sure to check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file". Then, click OK and lets see if that will help. Generally,
Photoshop should open files with either file extension you mention.
