Can't receive faxes using DSL w/ filters

Okay, I have read all of the messages posted about faxing and I am still
lost. I am able to send faxes without any trouble. I am not able to receive
faxes at all. I do have DSL access but have installed filters on my phone
line which I have hooked up to my lap top. Why am I able to send but not
receive? I also have been trying to open up the control panel but no matter
how I click on it, nothing. Same thing happens with My Documents (under
start options). I have no idea how to get into Fax Wizard and I saw that
when I get a fax I should have a pop-up screen to accept the fax, but the
only thing that happens is that my phone rings. By the way, phone and fax
are under the same number.

You don't send or receive faxes using DSL but the telephone line. The filter
has nothing to do with it has to be on there so that the DSL and the phone
calls/faxes don't interact. Evidentially if you can send faxes but can't
receive them your fax software is not configured correctly. You should talk
to your software company for help.

To get to the Fax Console, 'Start|All
Programs|Accessories|Communications|Fax'. Once there, open the Fax Console
and go to 'Tools|Fax Printer Configuration|Devices tab|Properties|Receive
tab' and make sure "Enable Device to Receive" checked; you may wish to alter
the Manual or Automatic receive setting. If "Enable Device to Receive" is
already checked, see:

Why do my Fax transmissions fail so often?
