can't print activex maybe stopping it

I can't install my printer I have xp sp2. hp printer.It shows that its
installed and when I reboot it disappears.I fix the print spooler. Thats ok
now,it said,activex maybe disable.under security settings. downloads and/or
scripts activex. Help

With canon,once the "found new hardware" wizard starts,& before you close
out with "ok",one must install the canon software,either by cd or download,if
it isnt performed,even though the wizard has finished,w/o the software the
printer wont function...An active X has no bearing with a printer.
