Hi,
Has anyone had a problem getting WindowsXP updates and
recieving a "ActiveX security settings are too high" error
while Microsoft is trying to search for what updates you
need? I go into the Internet Properties Window/Security
Tab turn on all the activeX controls and downloads same
thing.
I then figure I have a Internet Explorer problem. So I
download ie6setup.exe and run it. It gets to the part of
the download for the scripting files and I get a error
message saying "The software you are installing has not
passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatablity
with Windows XP." Then as the ie6setup.exe ends I get
a "The following Windows components were not installed:
Microsoft Windows Scripting Support".
I then pull up 319585 which deals with the "windows
update did not update successfully when you visit the
website" and go through it removing the temp internet
files, Windows update folder, windows update activeX
controls. It then says to install new copies of the
activeX controls from the windows update website. Well
guess what. The minute I go to the update sight for XP to
search for the activeX control files download it searches
my computer and I get the "activeX security message" again?
I'm now looking at artical 828031 where it has you
remove "windows XP hotfix-kb823559" which addresses the
windows logo testing issue when loading Internet explorer
6 SP1 but it makes no mention of either scripting or
activeX errors?
Any ideas out there?
