I have win xp home sp2 and yes the java checks out fine,
but when I go to pogo.com to play games,
it tells me I need plugins ! I don't know what kind of plugins.
I use firefox as my browser, but couldn't play the games with IE
either,so any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
I checked to see if I have Java, and it checked out,
but when I just searched for MS Java VM,nothing
came up. So where can I download this Java VM,
there are so many Java sites, and I have no clue.
Thanks.

You can download MS jave here:
http://home.wanadoo.nl/jheroen/VM/index.htm

Be sure to download and install all three versions that way it will be up to
date,
and yes you can have both the M/S and Sun's version installed at the same
time.

You might need the MS Java VM to play those pogo.com games.

Not anymore. Pogo used to suggest the MS Java VM, but now they link
to the Sun version and suggest that version over the MS one for their
games.

You're right. Maybe it's some sort of pop-up blocker or ad killer that's
playing spoil sport. OR FLASH! Maybe that's the plugin required! (see the
original question)

You can get the latest Sun Java here:

http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp/

This should work for your Pogo games.

I have absolutely nothing on my stand alone that anybody could want,
I am so up to my eyeballs sick of this security thing, where you can't do
nothing
and go nowhere.
Never the less,I do have the built in Java,I have Flash&Shockplayer,so now
I'm headed to download the 3 java thingys.May the pc gods be with me.
I thank you all very much for your help.

You have a computer. It can be used to launch attacks on others if
someone is allowed to install software to control it, so just because
you have nothing of value on it doesn't mean it isn't of value to someone.

And of course there are those who will send you a virus just to mess with
you, not caring what, if anything, you have in your system.

Alright-alright I got the message,I have always been or tried to be
on top of this security thing,I'm told Fort Knox should be as well
protected as my pc is,and I will take no chances of course.

Well I downloaded the sun Java,2 Runtime Environment SE 1.4.2_05
did have the v1.4.2_06 before which was a totally different thing,
and it seemed my games didn't work with it,
so now I am able to play my games ,and I'm happy.
Thank you all for your help.

Hi Map,
I went to said site, and found it didn't work well for me,
but I also found out that I had those 3 versions of microsofts java
already,so I just downloaded this (read last of my posts)
and so far so good, thanks for your help.

I have been having the exact same problem ever since I loaded windows xp with
sp2. so I too will try using all three versions of java and hope that works
as I can't compete in any of the tournaments on pogo games. Each time I get a
good score the whole thing freezes on me. Talk about frustration. Thank you
and I hope the same PC god that is helping worried will watch over my PC too.
