win XP Pro won't let me log off users acccounts, admin or limited. I can
switch users but they stay logged on. Also have to switch users to get back
to welcome screen to shut down or restart, can not do it from any accounts.

I'm experiencing precisely the same problem with Windows XP MCE 2k5. It
looks like this is a common problem, and I'm surprised that MS apparently
hasn't posted or implemented some sort of solution.

Any new news re: this?

So please do NOT change the subject line. This is NOT a chatroom, it's a
Newsgroup that just happens to have a web interface.

Switching users IS NOT supposed to log off the current user. It allows
anything that the current user is doing to continue to run when you log on
as another user. Hence the warning message telling you that is you shut down
you will screw up what the other user is doing. If he happens to be in the
midst of recompiling a critical database he could lose everything!

To do what you want to do, log off the current user - then log on as a new
user.

Thanks Kelly,

Bob; I can't remember how I fixed this problem, it was back in November,
Sorry. I may have found the fix on Kelly's XP page,

"RICHARD" I can appreciate that you may have been trying to help but your
response indicates that you need to re-read the original post. It states
quite clearly that the problem was that I "could not log off", but thanks for
the tutoriol on switching users anyway.

Maybe :
"If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!"

Once again Thanks Kelly, and good luck Bob.
