Can't log in after SP2

I have a laptop that had XP Pro installed. My user account on the laptop was
part of a domain. After installing SP2 I can no longer log in locally. And
because I telecomute I don't have access to the corporate network (directly)
to log into the domain to see if that fixes the problem. Any help would be
great.

Do you have a Novell Client installed on your XP Professional machine. Can
you boot to safe mode?

As soon as you log in to your accout, does the System automatically reboot.
