Can't install XP or 2000 SP 2,3,4

After buying a new Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard with Athlon 64 3200+ I
installed Windows 2000 but could not upgrade to a service pack later than SP
1. After days of frustration I decided to go to XP. I bought a full install
disk but cannot get it to install. It crashes when booted from the CD and
won't install from inside 2000 because it can't upgrade. Windows is without
a doubt the most frustrating sofrware I have ever used and it gets worse
with each advance.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

NOTE: If you have an internal Zip Drive installed, physically disconnect the
EIDE and power cable to it before proceeding, otherwise your main
hard drive may not be assigned the customary C: drive letter.
After installing Windows XP, you may then reconnect it.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

Thank you for giving me standard answer # 3. The machine already boots from
the CD. The problem is setup crashes and reboots the computer right after
saying "Checking for other versions of Windows" and never gets to the screen
to format the drive. Tomorrow when I have more time I will disconnect all
hardware including onboard LAN and sound. Why that should help when Windows
2000 has no problems with it I don't know but I have paid good money for
this coaster and will try anything to use it.

Why blame Windows? Why not replace the defective hardware causing the
problems?

There is no defective hardware.

If that were the case, both operating systems would install without
issue. After all, how can an OS possibly be at fault, if it's not even
installed? The problem cannot be anything other than defective or
incompatible hardware.

I have an operating system running. It has been doing so for over a month
without problems. Doing distributed computing 24/7. That couldn't happen if
I had defective hardware.

What OS? Some are far less sensitive to defective hardware than
others. Also, the fact that any one given OS will run on the hardware
doesn't mean that the hardware is compatible with, or capable of
supporting, Win2K or WinXP.

I had the same problem with any bios version other than F2.

WinXP installed with no problems on the F2 bios. I wanted to update the
bios to accomodate newer processors but couldn't because F5, F6, and F7
would not allow WinXP to boot. I could not even do a clean install with
any bios other than F2. I sent Gigabyte an email but I'm not sure if
I'll get a reply.

I'm using a Winnie 3000+ with 2x512mb ocz, 160gb Seagate sata, Nec2500a
optical drive, and an Ati Radeon agp card.
