I am having issues with doing this upgrade. Maybe someone can help shed
some light on this.
My last attempt of trying to do the upgrade was with the 266 Mb SP2
upgrade image, being
applied to my XP Pro SP#1 system.
I logged in as myself, having administrator priviledges, and turned off
my real-time antivirus
software, along with disabling my software firewall. I then ran the SP2
update image
by going to my download directory and double-clicking on it.
I followed the normal steps, and saw the update doing its
thing...however, after 3 hours of
running, I received an abort message during the cleanup phase -- telling
me that there was
a problem with ntdll.dll and that the installation would stop. I was
not given an option of
continuing the installation at all.
I was able to recover by rebooting the machine and going through the
control panel and
running the uninstall of the SP#2 package.
What could be causing this issue? I'm getting frustrated with this,
especially since my machine
is a few years old (a Dell 8300 - 3.0 GHz, 512Mb ram, etc.).
