I have a XP computer that won't go to sleep.
It is completely up to date on updates

If I ....

Start
Turn off Computer
Standby

the computer will go into standby
but it wakes itself up in about a minute or two
sometimes the monitor stays asleep - sometimes the monitor wakes up with the
computer

also, it won't go into sleep mode if left idle for the amount of time left
idle in the power settings in the control panel
just the screen saver
i think it does put the monitor to sleep
but the computer just won't go to sleep

no, the computer is not on drugs, or steroids <g>

I have tried various power settings - all with the same results

the computer just will not go into standby mode after the appropriate time
passes
or if I put it into standby mode, it will wake itself up in a couple of
minutes

Hi Ben,
This issue can happen if your Screen saver start to kick in and brought your
Machine from Hibernation, so try to change the Screen saver to test.
Also one of your Driver Power settings is not using the ACPI properly.
The System Cannot Go to Standby Mode Because the...
