windows hangs on shutdown

sometimes when rebooting or shutting down it just hangs on the "windows is
shutting down"

about all I can do is to press the power switch on the computer to turn it
off

yeh, on a few occassions i have experienced slow shutdowns....A couple of
weeks ago it took 15 minutes and i thought i had somekind of virus or
something. For the most part I think that mine are due to hardware. Once i
discovered that windows was unable to shutdown the network and internet
connections.

Not always, but i find that closing them before shutting down, prevents my
slow shutdowns.... Maybe, you have some equipment/hardware that you need to
close or turn off before you shut down....
