can't go into safe mode/ windows moving extra slow!

im having problems going into safe mode on my comp.

i was using my comp. last night and it was working okay.
this morn. when i restarted, it was moving really slow. taking awhile
for windows to start up. it also takes awhile for me to type my
password, to log into my own settings.

I've tried going into safe mode. once i start my comp. the windows XP
logo shows. i press F8 and it just takes me to windows starting screen.
I've tired pressing F5 that doesnt work either.
im just lost and not sure of what else to do..

would anyone be able to help me out?

If you can get into WinXP try a system restore. Start>All
Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Just
follow the instructions. Have you checked for Malware ( spyware,
trojans, worms etc )?
