can't get fax to recognize my modem

I can dial up aol, but when I try to use fax it says
there's no modem. after reinstalling, apparently
successfully, it says the same thing again. Anybody know
what this is about?

It's possible your modem isn't fully compatible with XP or you might need
updated drivers to implement the fax function. Check the modem
manufacturer's web site for updates and possible information related to this
issue.
