Can't get Contacts in Outlook Address book

I have recently transferred to my new computer, importing .pst from old
Outlook2000. All outlook files and
settings are working well, except when I try and acces the contacts list from
a new email. I click on "To" or "CC' and the meassage "The address list could
not be displayed. The Contacts list associated with the address list could
not be opened it may have been removed or deleted......"
The contacts list is accessable through Contacts.

I have already followed the procedure of opeing properties of the Contacts
folder and insuring that the "show this folder as an email address book" is
checked under Outlook Address book, but still no joy in accessing contacts
from a new email.

Then remove the Outlook Address Book from your mail profile, stop and
restart Outlook, and add the OAB service back in.

Hello, I'm using Outlook 2003 and am having the same problem as missing
pieces. AND I removed the Outlook Address Book from the profile, stopped and
restarted Outlook, and then added the OAB service back in. When I went to
the email directory wizard to add a new directory or address book, and
selected "Additional Address Books", and selected "Outlook Address Book", I
got the following dialog popup:
"This account or directory typr already exists and cannot be specified
twice.

Have read through all the other relevant threads and still am unable to
attach an address from my contact list to an email :-\
Can you help?

Well if you'd already added the Outlook Address Book to your profile, it
would stand to reason that you cannot add it again.
Seems to me that all you need to do now is enable any Contacts Folder you
would like to appear in your Outlook Address Book as an email address book.
R click any such folder and look at its Properties...

Was unable to enable the contacts folder, so I ended up just starting a whole
new profile and importing the outlook.pst from earlier today. The OAB now
works as an email address book - which is the result I wanted. Thanks.
(sorry about the multi-posting!)

Never import a PST. Just open it.
