(XP Pro SP3) I am getting email with O.E., but Explorer 7 says "Windows has
detected a problem with the Winsock provider catalog". I have used this
dialog box to try & fix it, Winsock Fix, run the netsh fix manually, deleted
the 2 Winsock keys in the registry & reinstalled Internet Protocol as per XP
Knowledgebase.....everything recommended. There is no antivirus installed
and the firewall is disabled.

Both wired & wireless connections say I'm connected to my network, but I
cannot get the internet, my NAS drive (which my other computers on this
network can access), nor does this desktop system recognize the others on the
network and they do not recognize it. Yet it says I'm connected and I can
get email.

I'll try ANYTHING (short of reinstalling XP) Please help.

Problem solved. Although it wasn't running, and unchecked in my Startup
Items in MSConfig, Zone Alarm was stopping my connection to the net AND my
network.
It is now uninstalled and everything is working perfectly.
My ISP Tech Support found this problem when I tried to ping him and got an
"error 65" in the cmd window. ZoneAlarm was blocking my computer even though
it wasn't running. BTW, I ran the program and turned all the protection off,
and made all of my Connections "Trusted" BEFORE I uninstalled it (just in
case). So I had the net before I uninstalled it.
