Can't Detect Portable Device

B

Brian

I can't for the life of me get Windows Media Player
(Version 9) to "see" my daughter's new iRiver iFP-390T
MP3 player. I keep getting the pop-up message "Windows
Media Player cannot detect a connected portable device.
Connect your portable device and try again." This after
downloading files from Napster to my PC on Windows XP
(Home).

We have successfully downloaded mp3 files from her CDs to
the mp3 player using iRiver's Music Manager, but no luck
with Windows Media Manager.

Help!

If this concerns a USB device, then you need to have installed the software
that came with it (drivers, programmes etc) BEFORE you plugged the device in
for the 1st time.

You could try deleting all references to it (including in the registry - but
back it up before you delve into it) then re-installing in the above
sequence.

iRiver players don't support WMA files with DRM. They should have a firmware
update ready in a few weeks.
