Transferring licensed music to a portable device

I have downloaded licensed songs in WMA format from the
music section of the nimemsn website in Australia, with
the aim of transferring them to my iRiver iFP-595T
portable. When I look at the license details for the
songs it states "Copy to an SDMI-compliant player not
allowed". Sure enough I can't copy the file to my
player. On the music site it indicates that the file
should be able to be transferred to a portable player. I
have corresponded with the guys running the site and they
say they should be able to transfer. Can anyone
enlighten me on what this licence message means and is
there a way around it?

The iFP-595T can play WMA files with DRM with an update.
