cant connect remotely

i run xp pro on my office computer that is connected to a lan that has 2
other computers on it all running xp pro
i have a laptop running xp pro
i have a fixed ip address on the office computer i have enabled remote
desktop on all the computers but when i try to connect from my laptop thru
remote desktop connection i get a message the client could not connect to the
remote computer remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might
be busy .
i have checked all the setting and rebooted but still cant connect .
waht am i missing ?

Are you running any firewall software on the PC(s) your trying to connect
to?

Are you using the correct local LAN IP address to call the PC(s)?

Note that it is *NOT* a valid test to call a PC on your local LAN from
another PC on the same LAN and use the public IP of the office
router/firewall.

cant telnet as the screen disapears
i have gone thru the trouble shooter you attached and enabled dns
but i still cant access port 3389

The Terminal Server service is started?

So the PC your trying to connect to is listening on TCP Port 3389?

You have forwarded/opened TCP Port 3389 through the Windows Firewall?

What happens if you disable the Windows Firewall on the PC you want to
remotely connect to? Can you connect then? Can you ping the PC from another
PC on your local LAN with the firewall disabled?

Are you running anything like NAV worm protection or OneCare Live on that
PC?

Here is the telnet test Bob was talking about... What are the results?
