can't change touchpad settings - can't delete text

How do I change the touchpad settings - I have already
gone into the control panel and changed settings but I am
still unable to drag and drop. Also, I cannot delete text
as the backspace button, the delete button and the space
bar do not respond when trying to delete text.
 
Since you say "Touch pad" I would assume you have a
Laptop. XP only has basic drivers, you need the
proprietary drivers for your laptop. They can be found on
your makers web site.
