I have been running Windows XP Home with no problems until
local issues forced a rebuild.
Installed Windows (from recovery CD - which I have used
before). Installed high speed i/net (via NIC/ cable modem)
from ISPs install disc (which I have used before). All
seemed fine. Was 'online' and able to ping in & out,
receive updates & access my POP email server.
I just can't browse.
Talked to ISP support - all settings were confirmed as
correct.
Tried reinstalling Windows & IE6 - tried reinstalling ISP
disc - tried with firewall/ without - tried with antivirus
software (Norton AV 2004) /without - tried with NIC
driver/ without - tried overwriting IE6 with 5.5 - I get a
connection every time but just can't browse.
Any help much appreciated - it's driving me mad!!
