Can't add printer

In WinXP printers and faxes, when I click on Add Printer, absolutely nothing
happens; no errors, nada. I checked the processes and the print spooler is
running; I stopped it and started it, to no avail. Any ideas? Thank you.

From the command prompt, type

sfc /scannow
(note space between c and /)

Somehow one of your system files is corrupted. Running the System File
Checker (SFC) should correct the problem.
