Printers and Fax Folder Can't Remove Old Printer

My HP Photosmart 7760 Printer Died. It was in the middle of a print job
when the power was cut momentarily by the utility crew setting a line to
a newly built home in the neighborhood. It caused the printer to pop a
gear. It was cheaper to buy a new printer than get the HP repaired.

Now when I try to remove the old 7760 from the Printers and Faxes folder
I get a message that I have to contact my administrator. I AM the
Administrator, I have administrative privileges. I tried going into
Safe Mode, but in Safe Mode the Spooler isn't running. Even though I was
signed into the Administrator account, I could do nothing to remove
the old printer.

So how do I get it out of the Printers and Faxes folder?

Dear Brian,
Please accept my condolences to your loss of a dead printer while given
birth to an important Docs LOL.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
We are sorry for your loss again.

-> Now, come to the serious moment. How are you uninstalling the Printer? Is
it from the Printers and Faxes or you uninstall the Printer software from
Add/Remove Programs then Reboot and run disk clean Up and try the new printer!

Also, try to clear the print jobs from the Spooler before uninstalling the
software.
Here are some info from HP about uninstalling.
Solution
Follow these steps to remove all the HP software, and then download and
install the software from the Web. Installing the most current software from
the Web fixes a corrupt installation file in older versions of the HP
software.
Step one: Uninstall the HP Software
If you have the HP Software CD, insert the CD and follow the on-screen
instructions to uninstall the software. Otherwise, follow these steps to
remove the software.

1. Unplug the USB cable connecting the product to the computer.
2. Click Start , and then click Control Panel .
The Control Panel window opens.
3. Open the list of installed programs and remove the software.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs . In the list of installed programs, click
the HP product, and then click Add/Remove .
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.

Let us know your progress.
