Canon i850 - first impressions

Ron

Just printed my first pictures with my new i850. In a word AWESOME.

Installation of the printer couldn't have been easier. Everything went
exactly it should have.

Having been used to the Epson print driver interface, this is quite
different and will take a bit to get used to.

I printed on the Canon photo paper that came with the printer and also with
Epson photo paper that I have. The difference that I found between the two
papers is that the shades of blue on the Canon paper were brighter but that
was about it. The crispness of the photo details for this level of printer
is more than enough for me. I couldn't discern any printer patterns in the
printouts with my naked eyes and I am not interested in looking through a
magnifier to find flaws.

This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship;-}

Welcome to the Canon-Convertee Club (where former Epson owners come to play
:)) Ron. Soon you, too, will be enjoying wonderful prints, lower ink costs
and heads that don't clog every week :)

I never really had a clogging problem with the Epson printer (600, then 640)
and I still have the 640 connected to a laptop and it is working perfectly.

I went to Canon because I refuse to buy into Epson's chipped cartridges and
the accompanying hassle with refilling. I don't like it when a manufacturer
tries to keep me tied to them via engineering the product to make it
difficult to do otherwise.

So far I am a very happy camper.
