cannot switch users

All of a sudden, I am unable to switch users via "Fast
User Switching". This option is enabled under the User
Accounts properties. It has always worked before, but
now it does not. When I choose "Log Off" from the Start
Menu, I get the window that gives me the option
to "Switch User" or "Log Off". I can Log Off with no
problems, however when I select "Switch User" it does
absolutely nothing. It doesn't crash the system or
affect any other currently running applications, nor does
it 'blue screen' or give any error code. It just doesn't
do anything at all

I have searched through the Knowledge Base articles, but
have not found anything in regards to this. Any ideas?

Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

Thanks for the info. What exactly does that command do?

It restores Picture and Fax viewer, which can cause this behavior.
