XP switching users

Why can't I switch users? I can log off OK, but when I try to switch users
nothing happens. When I try the account fast switch the check mark shows it
is applies but when you go to apply this it reverts back to Welcome user
screen and not applied to the use fast user switching.

Open services.msc then :
1. Double click "Terminal services" > Set to Manual > Click Start
If you get the same error then first go to "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" service
and set to manual > Start it.
2. Now try the same with "Fast user ..."

Hi there.
I seem to have the same problem as Gordon but when I do as you suggest in
the terminal services I still get the same error messages .
I go to RPC service, get it started on manual, then go to fast user
switching then the error message 1068 appears. Am I frustrated or what!!

What is the status of "Terminal Services" and "Remote Procedure Call(RPC)" service ?

Any other ideas with this? I have the same problem and have tried all that
you said. If I try to start the Terminal services it comes back with an
error. When trying to switch between one user and another, the screen flashes
and comes back to the same screen. For example, If my user names are "User 1"
and "User 2" and I'm logged onto one of them. Lets say "user 1" and I click
switch user, the welcome screen comes up with the names of "user 1" and "user
2". If I click on "user 2" in this instance, the screen flashes, I see the
desktop for a brief second and then the welcome screen comes back.,

I am also having a similar problem. My MB died recently, I upgraded the MB,
CPU, memory, all other components the same as before. System works well now
EXCEPT for fast switching. I can log on to one account at a time (log out
and log back in again) and everything functions normally. When I try to
fast-switch the screen flashes (no error message) and returns to the welcome
screen.

I tried the fixes above, didn't change anything. Anyone have an idea how to
fix this?

Thanks,

MT
