"switch users" option stopped working?

Hi
My home PC, (XP Pro) set up for four (family) users, has 'switch user'
available from the log out menu, but this has suddenly stopped working.
'logo' + L now switches to the 'lock screen' window more familiar to
network users (like I have on my work PC), and using the 'switch user'
option from the log off screen just returns you to your own desktop.
I tried to enable the 'fast switching' via the user accounts screen, but
this just doesn't do anything.

We've recently installed a bluetooth USB, but I can't imagine this is the
cause.

See if Terminal Services and Fast User Switching Compatibility services are
started on your computer. Click Start, Run, type "services.msc" (without the
quotation marks) and click OK. Double-click "Terminal Services" and make
sure it's started and its startup type is "Manual". Double-click "Fast User
Switching Compatibility" and make sure it's started and its startup type is
"Manual". Restart the computer and try again.

thanks - I'll try that. I occasionally use citrix nfuse - would that have
any bearing on it?

I noticed the same problem several months ago now. I thought it was probably
connected with one of the updates. Did not know what to do about it and
hoped it would mend itself. I have just tried Daniels solution but without
success.

I just tried Daniel's solution on my computer with the same problem as SMB
and it fixed my problem.

Thankyou Daniel

I am experienceing the same or similar problem. Both the Terminal Svcs and
Fast User Switcing are running and set to Manual. What happens is that a
second user cannot log on. This started happening about three weeks ago and
has continued. I am not sure where else to look.
