Cannot Send Messages from Outlook 2007 with Vista

B

Barbara

OK, I am at my wits end! My messages just sit in the Outbox. The
guys at Microsoft do not know what to do, the guys at ATT, where I
have my email account, do not either. The very puzzling thing
is...they do go through to only one recipient that I know of...my
husbands' work email account! What on earth is going on here? We
have checked Norton, no problem.

I never had this problem with XP, my husband uses a Vista PC at home,
no problem. I have an HP notebook with Vista.

I need to be able to send email! There are no error messages,
nothing, the messages just sit in the outbox. By the way, there are
no attachments either.

I would really appreciate someone's help on this! None of the so
called experts can solve it...the ATT guy offered to send me to a
higher level of support 99 bucks for a phone call. I don't think
so!!!

Whoever can solve this problem for me gets a reward in heaven or some
such place!!!
Thanks,
Barbara

If you've checked Norton, then you very probably found the problem.
Uninstall Norton's email scanning components; Norton's email scanner is
incompatible with with every email client I know of. Uninstall Norton, use
their debris removal tool to clean up all the crud the uninstaller leaves
behind, then do a custom re-install so you can prevent all email scanning
components from being installed. Email scanning is redundant, it offers no
additional protection over the resident file system scanning components;
instead, email scanning causes problems, often more severe than those caused
by the malware they're designed to keep out.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

Aside from the possibility that your antivirus is the culprit
(which Hal already covered), you may have a stuck message
in the Outbox. First of all, are we dealing with Windows Mail,
or with "Outlook 2007" as mentioned in the Subject line?
If the former, and there is an accumulation of messages in the
Outbox folder, open the Outbox folder. Move as many of those
messages as you can to the Drafts folder. If any won't move or
can't be deleted, apply this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

If you really did mean Outlook, you should post this issue in the
Outlook newsgroup where the Outlook experts tend to hang out.

I checked the outlook group and it has had no activity for months. In
January, another person posted the exact same
question and there have been no replies! So, any of you out there who
can help me, thanks!

Sounds like you gave her the correct solution.
However, I don't consider this an appropriate forum to answer
Outlook questions. If this newsgroup starts getting cluttered with
Outlook questions and responses, the newbies seeking help with
Windows Mail problems will become confused and frustrated.
