Hello,
I got a tape which was used to backup in linux environment using tar command.
I cannot re-use this tape in a backup job created in window 2000 server
environment.

Error message in the screen
"Library Benchmark DLTape(tm) DLT1/VS80 Drive couldn't write to media "10".
Eject it, fix the problem (see the event log), and try again."

Question:
What is the command /or method to re-format this tape so that the window
2000 server backup job can recognise this tape?

Thanks

Open Removable Storage Manager, find the tape, right-click it, and prepare
it/mark it as free.

Many tape carts have a write protect tab on them. Make sure its not set
to protected.

Otherwise you might have to do an "initialize" on the tape. Most tapes
newer than T-1 can't be formatted by the user.
