I dont't have McAffee and neither Norton. I have and use Webrook spsysweeper
with antivirus.
Please advise if the KB941090 Microsoft Update that you refer to also
applies to Webrook Spysweeper.
(By the way, one additional question: Is the KB941090 not an "automatic
update"? I looked at the list and did not see it, but I wojnder if it might
be hidden somehwere)
Thanks

KB941090 is not an automatic update because it is just a temporary
tool used to remove stuck messages. So, it is not a permanent patch.
If you have a recurrence of the stuck message problem, you can
blame Spysweeper.

The update for windows Vista KB941090 (32 bit) recommended by Brinks above.
I still get the message

"Folder Could not be displayed
Windows Mail could not open this folder
Possible causes are:
Low disk space
Low memory "

When I try to open any of the Newsgroups.

What patch? What seems to be the problem with reading newsgroups?

My version is 32 bit. I installed th4 Windows 6.0-KB941090-V2_x86.msu. I
could not find information if this is the 32 or 64 bit installation. I think
that I selected the 32 from the two when I started loading, but just in case,
can any one tell me if the one that I installed is the 32?
Also: I stopped some of the Intenet things from my Webrook, but still
thingns did nto word. Seems to be soemthing else.
Can any one send to me a link on how to set Windows Mail again (from
scratch) to work with MSN dialup, just in case that I decide to to it (i.e.,
to reset the Windows Mail from sctratch again).
Thanks.

I just reset Windows Mail and still have the problem. So my next step will
probably be to install Windows Mail Beta 2.
Brinks, do I need to uninstall my current Windows Mail bofore I download and
install the Beta 2, or will the replacement be automatically without me
having to uninstall my current program?
Also: Do the Beta 2 has any issues working with MSN dialup? (I use MSN
Dialup as my primary e-mail program).
Thanks in advance.

Do not attempt to uninstall Windows Mail. It's part of Vista.
Windows Live Mail will import accounts, settings, folders and emails
from Windows Mail.

Windows Live Mail does not care what your connection source is.
Dial-up should work fine.

Is the Windows Mail that I have now (before installing the Beta 2) a Beta 1?
The Beta 2 is a new experiment, or has it been around for a while? How is
the Beta 2 working? Any major issues with the other programs that will cause
annoyances, etc? Does it works better that the current one?

Windows Mail is not in beta. It is a finished product (believe it or not!).
Windows Live Mail (a different mail program) is in beta testing. Its Beta 2
version has been out about 5 weeks. It seems to be coming along nicely,
but like all beta products, it still has a few bugs and shortcomings.
I use it every day as my primary email client. I like it slightly better than
Windows Mail, but you'll find that this is mostly a personal preference
thing. It's contacts feature and spell checker are better than those in
Windows Mail.

I already started the loading of Windows Live Mail last night, but something
happened that it was cut short, so I ahve to go back to it sometimes again
whenever I have the time to monitor it, possibly the weekend. The downloads
using my dial-up seems to take a long time.
Is this new Live Mail supposed to eventually supplant the current Windows
Mail, or both will stay around as separte programs in the future?
Also: Once that I install it, do I get automatic updates like with the ohter
Windows programs, or do I have to manually search for these updates?

As far as what the ultimate outcome of Windows Live Mail versus
Windows Mail will be, that has not been publicized by Microsoft.
But it seems wasteful of resources for Microsoft to continue to
support two different free email clients.

The Junk E-mail filter in both Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail
will receive periodic updates, but I don't expect to see program
updates through automatic Windows Updates unless it is a critical
security fix.

Octavio,

No, you do not need to do anything with Windows Mail. When you install
Windows Mail Live Beta, it will automatically import Windows Mail
messages, accounts, and settings into it. _Contacts_ will have to be
manually imported from within WLM. (Tools, Contacts, File, Import,
Address book for current Windows User.) To see the _Menu_bar_, press
ALT+M and check "Show all menus".

i INSTALLED the Windows Live Mail and now I have access to the Newsgroups.
But I wonder why sometimes I only get the headings and I don't get the rest
of the threads under the individual headings. Is this an issue with this
Beta 2?

When you click on a newsgroup message header, then does the body
of the message not download to the preview pane?
