Cannot open .xml file in IE 6.0

when I try to open an .xml file using IE, it behaves weirdly. I keep on getting the File download window and finally on pressing ESC key for number of time, I get error message "Access to specified device, path or file is denied". There is no access restriction to the directory where XML files are stored. I am having MSXML4.0 and IE: 6.0.2800.1106 installed on my PC. Has anyone has encountered same error and if yes please post the solution for the same.

The Windows Update Troubleshooter has some (Catch-22)
tips for people who need their XML services repaired.

If you have trouble even opening the troubleshooter
that could be a further indication that you have something wrong
with your version of the XML parser.

There's a new MSKB article about resolving that last possibility.
The same resolution could apply to your problem in any case.

Good luck
