Cannot open jpeg attachments in windows mail

I am running internet explorer 7 and all of a sudden I cannot open any jpeg
attachment files. If I save to file, I can then open.
I get the following message:
C:\users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TemporaryInternetFiles\Content.IE5\140JFOZK\Picture 004.jpg is not a valid Win32 Application
