Opening JPEGS

Kosnmotion

I'm not sure why but all of a sudden when people try to send me pictures,
they wont open. I get this message...Windows can not find "so and so" jpeg.
Make sure you spelled it correctly and try again. Why is this happening all
of a sudden? I can save the attachements and then open them on my desktop
but it's a pain in the ass. Can someone help me out?

Do you have IE8 installed?

If so you got bitten by a bug which appears on some (many) system after
installing IE8.

So far there is no fix except uninstalling IE8.

Rainald
P.S. Do have the problem only with JPG attachments?
How about other file types?

Start button > Internet Explorer > Help > About Internet Explorer > the drop
down box will show you what you have.

I am having this precise problem that arrived out of the blue. It is most
frustrating. Someone mentioned IE8; what is that? But, can Microsoft help us
to overcome our joint problem?

IE8 = Internet Explorer 8

Not yet. At present nobody knows what's happening and why.
For further details pls see my posting with a verbose explanation higher
up in the thread.

The only known fix at this time is to uninstall IE8.
Otherwise, you can save the attachment first, then open it
outside of Windows Mail.

Does it fail using Windows Live Mail?

No idea. I don't use Windows Live Mail.

What do you want to say by this?

"Kosnmotion" - to whose posting you are replying - said nothing about
"Windows *Live* Mail".
This thread AFAICS is on "Windows Mail" - which is a totally different
beast.

Rainald
P.S. It's really fine that in your replies you do not carry on the whole
thread you are replying to.
It would be even better, however, would you quote a little bit -
especially the name if the poster you are replying to as well as the
sentence your answer is based upon.

TIA
Rainald

It appears that the incidence of this problem is much less
with Windows Live Mail than with Windows Mail.
