Cannot install XP Pro Upgrade

D

Dick Lenz

I have a brand new computer with plenty of power, memory
and storage that came loaded with Windows XP Home Edition.
I have an Upgrade to XP Professional that I bought. I try
to install the upgrade and immediately get the message in a
WINDOWS SETUP message box "No valid system partitions were
found. Setup is unable to continue". I cannot go any
further with the installation.

The installation selections will not even allow me to
select the test for System Compatibility (which should not
be a problem).

Can anyone out there help me?

Thank you.

Apparently you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP Professional.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"retail versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a retail version of XP Pro
or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".
