cannot install q827667 update for IE6

I tried to install the update found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyID=7f0debb3-0b8d-4196-bd6d-
9d8651e5f5c0&displaylang=en

which is q827667.exe, but I get an error message that says
I must first have IE6 SP1 installed. But I do have this
installed, plus updates Q832894, Q330994, and Q831167.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Hi David,

The error message you saw is a commonly seen when you are trying to install
a QFE that is attempting to update a file that is outside its specified
range. From the list of patches you have listed below, you have a higher
version of the file then q827667 allows for.

IE patches are cumulative, so the fix you are looking for in q837667 should
be in q832894. Are you experiencing a specific problem that q837667 used to
address that you seem to be missing now?

Steve,

Thank you so much for your reply.
The issue I was trying to address was that when I hit a
button on a web page that either proceeds to the next page
or pops up a window, that new page or popup is
unresponsive. That is, none of the buttons on that page
work. If I change my Internet Options to "Display a
notification about every script error", I can see that
there seem to be JavaScript errors complaining about
certain objects being "undefined". It seems that certain
elements on the page are not loaded yet before JavaScript
tries to run. But if I hit PF5, then the page usually
becomes responsive.

In reading the descriptions of the downloadable patches, I
thought Q827667 might fix the problem.

What do you think I could do fix my problem?

Thank you.

David
