cannot get email...security problem?

ever since i updated my media content files with the Windows website, i can't
get emails from my friend who is at IBM. she has been sending me emails for
several months until now. she gets a system error -- "550 you are not
allowed to send mail to....." does anyone know what this is about? i think
it may be my system blocking hers. i read somewhere that often these updates
make serious changes. what do i do to fix it and should i stop updating my
system?

Is your friend tyring to send the email using her home emil account through
IBM servers? It is more possible that this is an error from her server than
from your account, unless your ISP has blocked her ISP/Domain for some
reason.

If your using outlook express and a ISP your SMPT isn't recognized.

It's "smtp". From your post, it sounds more like your friend's IBM
corporate network is blocking mails to your ISP. Your friend should
check with her IT Dept. The smtp protocol on your machine is for *you*
to send emails.

How can you get emails from someone who can't *send* them?

The problem is on *her* end: She's trying to send a message using other than
a corporate (IBM) account. She should check with her IT department (or read
her emails from them more closely: IBM instituted this policy about 6 weeks
ago).

Thanks for the info. so, if my ISP has blocked her ISP/domain, then how to i
unblock it? i am using regular OUTLOOK, not outlook express. she can get my
emails with no trouble. she just can't get mine out on hers. she is using
an ibm work address. not a personal account, but her work one. any info on
how i should unblock her? is this related to my updates?

No, her employer, IBM, is blocking messages that she sends from a non-IBM
account (e.g., (e-mail address removed)) while she's at work. The problem is on
*her* end (in more than one way).
