When I used the Network Setup Wizard in XP for the first
time I allowed the system to determine the appropriate
connections. As a result there is a 1394 Connection
showing up under Network Connections.

As per the instrauctions in note 823305 I disabled the
connection, but the delete command is greyed when I right
click on the icon. If I press on the Delete key I get
the following message:

"The connection you selected cannot be deleted."

Is there another way to remove this connection? Disabling
it alone, does not appear to resolve the network
connection problems I am experiencing.

Regards

Dave

The 1394 connection appears because your computer has an IEEE 1394
(FireWire) port, which is usually used to connect other devices
(cameras, external hard disks, etc) to the computer.

If there's a Network Bridge containing the 1394 connection,
right-click and delete the Network Bridge. An un-bridged, disabled
1394 connection shouldn't cause problems with other network
connections.

It isn't possible to delete the 1394 connection using the Network
Connections folder. You can delete the connection by going to Device
Manager and disabling the 1394 network adapter. However, I don't see
any benefit to doing it.
