1394 Connection

Jamie

I accidentally deleted the 1394 Connection under "Network
Connects". I am trying to set up a home network, however,
the Network Wizard keeps failing - I believe it is
because it is using my Intel PRO/100 adapter for the
internet connection and trying to use my 1394 Adapter for
the network connection.

How do I get the "1394 Connection" to appear as a
connection under "Network Connections"? My OS is XP Home
Edition.

Thanks

The "1394 connection" uses an "IEEE 1394" (also known as FireWire)
port on your computer. It isn't normally used for home networking,
although it can be used to network with another computer that also has
an "IEEE 1394" port.

The only way I know of to delete the "1394 connection" is to go to
Device Manager and un-install the "1394 Net Adapter" that the
connection uses. If that's what you did, go back to Device Manager
and click Action | "Scan for hardware changes" to re-install the
adapter.

If the Network Wizard asks what connection to use, tell it to use the
Intel PRO/100 adapter and to ignore the "1394 Net Adapter". If it
tries to create a network bridge between those adapters, tell it not
to.
