Cannot ctl alt del

Ron

Ever since my laptop crashed I cannot login since
the ctl alt del sequence is not recognized.

The keyboard is working since I can get into setup mode
and change the time and scroll through the menus.

I even tried safe mode with the same results.

Has anyone seen this before?
Is there a way to bypass the ctl alt del request screen?

Thanks,
Ron

Try using last know good configuration startup menu option. You may need to
reinstall, but I would try an upgrade install first by booting from install
cdrom. That should preserve your data and applications but require that you
install first your service pack and critical updates again and not
connecting to the internet untill you have some sort of firewall protection.
See the link below. You also may an to try an external usb keyboard
first. --- Steve

Can you access the computer over a network? If so, you can use regedit
and connect to the registry on the laptop and change
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
value "AutoAdminLogon" to 1 and reboot the laptop.
