Can not print from IE6 or Outlook

John Scott

On an NT network. Server NT4, station Win2K all SP
applied. Printer uses JetDirect connection to the nework.
One user gets the following error when printing.
An error has occured in the script on this page.
Line 228
Char 1
Error 'dialogArguments._IE_PrintType' is null or not an
opbject
Code 0
URL res://C:\WINNT\system32\shdpclc.dll/preview.dlg

If I login as user the error occurs. If I log in as
Administrator the error does NOT occur. If I logon to
another station as the user the error does Not occur.
I have:
1 checked to see that the path for the TEMP environment variable
exists for the user.
2 Deleted the printer and reinstalled.
3. Reinstalled IE6 over the existing installation.
4. Checked for the program Surfairy and it is not present.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. John

Thanks for your response. I have tried your second suggestion but not
the first. I will try it out on Monday.

This is an other possible solution found in a previous message.

I had a problem not being able to print from either I.E. or Outlook Express,
and if I tried to use Page Setup, I.E. would hang.

The version info in the Help/About was completely gone. I got paid help from
Microsoft,
and the following steps fixed the problem.

First, using Internet Options, delete all cookies, temp files and objects.
This might
fix it for some people.

In my case, I also had to use regsvr32 from the start/run command to
re-register vbscript.dll and jscript.dll.

At the Start/Run applet execute these commands
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Then, thank god, everything worked. A frustrated I.E. 6 users.
