Won't Print

John Scott

One station on a NT network will not print from IE6 or
Outlook. The other stations work ok. The problem station
is running Win2k with SP6 installed. If I log on as
Administrator it prints. If I logon as the user then the
error "An error has occured in the script on this page"
I have tried reinstalling both the printer (a network
printer useing NetDirect connection) and IE6

Problem below also occurred on my computer today. WIN XP
Home + IE 6.0 (latest version). Mails from Outlook
Express and PDF files (on websites) are printed OK, as
well as pages from Office programs. No difference if
connected to direct printer or to network printer. Also
tried different printers; no difference. In IE it says:
An error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 94
Char: 1
Error: Access denied
Code: 0
URL: res//C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

I tried all three solutions mentioned in Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article 303360. A couple of weeks ago it
still worked OK. Can someone help me? Marja

You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/default.asp?contentid=28001169
or

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

Thanks for your quick answer. I deleted cookies, history
and files in Internet Options. After that I downloaded
and installed the script file you suggested. Rebooted the
laptop completely and tried again to print page of the
web. Unfortunately ..... no luck. Same script error
appears again. As it worked fine before, I do not
understand what happened. Any other suggestions? Thanks

It works !!!! In the meantime I also installed "bhodemon"
program. It is a very nice tool. Thank you so much for
your help! Marja

Try this quick fix:
IE- Tools -Internet Options - Advanced

Uncheck: Enable third-party browser extensions
[requires restart]

If that works, then check for a problem BHO

How would that explain that it prints if I logon as the
Administrator on that station?

Parasite in the user folder.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
