Can my laptop be configured to access 2 networks

Midge

I need to access two different networks (NOT
SIMULTANEOUSLY) with one laptop. I can actually dial in
to both networks and get connected but I can only access
my files on one network.

I am being told by the IT Dept. that this cannot be done.
And then again I have been told that there IS a way to
have two hardware profiles set up to allow access to
files on both networks. I guess this would be similar to
having two people share the same computer.

Any suggestions

You can be on two networks (actually you are if you are on the
internet and have a VPN)... Part of the problem is getting the
routing sorted out... The main problem is if both networks are on the
same private address space/subnet (i.e., both use 192.168.2.x or
192.168.1.x ... as their network address).

Post back with more details about the two different networks...
