hey guys
i have an old gmail account that i have forgotten the password for, BUT it
is saved in my 'saved passwords' list ie.. when i type my user name it IE
auto fills in the password field for me.
i cannot change my gmail password without knowing the old one

my question is, IS the password that gets auto filled in saved somewhere in
my cookies? and can anyone tell me how to find it at all?

thanks so much

Even if the password would be contained in a cookie, it would be
encrypted. After all, what good is a password if anyone who can access
your cookies can easily read it?

I haven't used Gmail myself, but isn't there some way that you can prove
your identity so that you can gain access to your account?

"Protected Storage PassView": http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html
Useful to see what login data is being stored in autocomplete's cache.

From http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html:
"About Internet Explorer 7
In the new version 7.0 of Internet Explorer (IE7), the Protected Storage is
not used for saving passwords anymore, and thus after installing IE7, this
utility won't display new passwords that you type in IE7 browser.
For more information about passwords in Internet Explorer 7, read this
(http://www.nirsoft.net/articles/ie7_passwords.html).

Did you read the page properly that was linked?

Currently, there is no utility in NirSoft Web site that decrypt these
passwords, but I'll probably create a utility for this type of passwords
sometime in the near future.

It clearly says that NirSoft doesn't have a utility to access those
passwords.
